Auto-sleep feature helps conserve battery life. Rated 4 out of 5 by Richard S from J'ust the thing for someone with dexterity-challenged hands.
I purchased the Kensington Expert Wireless Trackball to use with a new laptop because I needed something that would give me the ability to control the pointer with greater precision than either the track pad or a regular mouse. My hands are partially paralyzed and I cannot control the pointer with any precision with either.
The small-diameter trackballs are equally difficult for me. The large diameter Kensington is the solution and works great. My only complaint about this trackball may be because of the wireless connection - I would like for it to be a little faster. Its speed is a bit less than that of the USB Kensington I use on my desktop. Rated 3 out of 5 by MechZeus from Not worth the upgrade w/o drivers for Windows10 As a happy user of the Kensington Expert Mouse, I was excited to see this new wireless model available. Much to my disappointment, the supplied trackballworks software does not recognize the trackball for setup on Windows 10. This problem is present both over bluetooth (currently using microsoft universal HID-device driver), as well as the provided 2.4GHz USB dongle.
Steps were taken to install the software before BT pairing or plugging in the USB dongle. Completely neutered:( Fortunately, I am able to continue to use the trusty-old expert mouse and trackballworks on my Win10 machine without hiccups.
Now I contemplate returning this or holding out for drivers from Kensington. What would you do? Rated 4 out of 5 by HoosrHeel from Quick response and adaptable I use the wireless trackball with my MacBook Pro at my desk. This is my second Kensington Trackball at home. I had one at the office, too, when I was a writer for a computer company. I like the ergonomics of not having to move my hand all over the place.
Both the trackball mice I had previously were wired. This is my first time with a wireless trackball mouse, and it's working fine. The mouse is easy to switch back and forth for right-hand or left-hand. I had to call the Kensington Help desk twice to get the trackball going with my MacBook.
The first time, they sent a note with a URL for the installation software. I still could not get it it to work. Calling back, they quickly helped me get it going and individualized. Another concern: The instructions are not clear. A lot of is not hard to follow, but there were places of confusion. Rated 2 out of 5 by MillerMultimedia from Limited Mac Compatibility I purchased this trackball along with a new Apple laptop.
I also downloaded the Kensington trackball software for the Macintosh only to find that it does not recognize the trackball. According to Kensington support they have no plans on supporting this trackball for Mac users. With out sftware only 2 of the four buttons do work as does the scroll ring. You will not be able to make any adjustments, define buttons, scroll direction, trackball speed. I also own the corded version of this trackball.
The scroll ring on the wireless version feels much cheaper. It scrolls much rougher and the ring is plastic instead of the more rubbery texture from the corded version. A big let down. Rated 4 out of 5 by Elliot C. From Wireless refresh of winning design This trackball is fantastic! The size & weight of the ball make it very easy to control - not twitchy like smaller trackballs. I use this for 8-10hrs each day and absolutely love it.
Trackballworks software offers many helpful tweaks and customization to speed up your workflow. You can set up profiles for different applications for supreme app-specific controls which I adore. If I must find something to nit-pick then Mac users should know that the wireless trackball must be used with the wireless USB dongle.
Hopefully it will be supported over Bluetooth soon. Rated 1 out of 5 by 818Conductor213 from Terrible OSX support Running OSX Yosemite 10.10.5 1. I was not excited to find in the included user manual that you must use the USB wireless if you want to use Kensington's trackballworks app. These details aren't published on B&H or Kensington product pages. You may as well save $30 and buy the wired version instead of this. Kensington states software compatible with OSX 10.10, which is not true in my case attempting to use Trackballworks on OSX Yosemite 10.10.5.
Huge disappointment. Rated 5 out of 5 by Frank J. From The Next Level of Control This has become a wonderful tool for my home recording setup. Coming from a conventional point-click mouse this takes a little time to get used to. You quickly catch on and it opens up a whole new world of access/control. The scroll wheel and customization buttons give it your own personal touch too.and maybe it's just me but using it massages my hand a bit too. I've yet to see how long the battery lasts but I'll chime in again if it's a frequent change thing.
Great mouse though!
